Where to stay for Oktoberfest 2027

Oktoberfest 2027 runs from Saturday 18 September to Sunday 3 October. Munich hotels are already taking bookings for it, and this is the cheapest those rooms will ever be. Every month you wait, the price goes up and the good ones go.

Book the room before you book anything else

Munich has roughly the same number of beds every year and about six million people trying to use them over sixteen days. Rooms that cost €90 in June cost €400 during the Wiesn, and the ones near the Theresienwiese sell out first. You do not need a tent reservation to come, and you do not need a plan yet. You do need somewhere to sleep, and that is the one thing that genuinely runs out.

Heads up: some links on this page are affiliate links, which means I may earn a small commission if you book through them. It costs you nothing extra. I only list places I would actually put a mate in, and I have said what is wrong with each one as well as what is right. If that ever stops being true, this page is not worth reading.

Where I would actually stay

a&o Munich Hauptbahnhof

hostel in Hauptbahnhof

My value pick. The location is hard to beat for the money: walking distance to a main entrance, and right by the station for getting in and out of the city. If your plan is spend-on-beer-not-bed, start here.

The catch: Rooms are basic. Clean, but basic.

Hotel Amba

budget hotel in Hauptbahnhof

Cheap for the location and good value against comparable hotels. Breakfast is included, a real bonus when you are up early to beat the tent queues.

The catch: Basic but clean, and it is about a 20-minute walk to the grounds rather than on the doorstep.

Hotel Daniel

mid-range hotel in the city centre

A step up in comfort, with properly nice rooms. The pick if you want to feel looked after at the end of a long day.

The catch: It costs a bit more, and the walk to the grounds is a slightly longer 20 to 25 minutes.

The Cloud One München-Hauptbahnhof (formerly Flemings)

upmarket hotel in Hauptbahnhof

The treat option: beautiful rooms and a brilliant location for the stations, the city centre and the 10 to 15-minute walk to the Wiesn.

The catch: The bathrooms have a full glass divider. Fine for a couple; if you are sharing with mates, there is precisely zero privacy. And I stayed when it was still Flemings, before the Motel One rebrand, so check the current rooms.

ibis budget Munich City Süd

budget hotel in Giesing, south of the centre

My very first Wiesn booking. The room was cheap, and if a cheap bed matters more to you than anything else, it does the job.

The catch: Very basic, and the 30-minute U-Bahn each way quietly taxed every day and made the late nights a slog. I include it as the cautionary tale: stay walkable if you possibly can.
